Frequently asked, honestly answered

Ask hard questions. We’ll answer them.

If your question isn’t here, email hello@z-tape.com — a human reads it. We’d rather you ask before you tape than tape and regret it.

Is mouth taping safe?
For healthy adults with a clear nose, yes — and a growing body of literature backs it up. The honest caveats: don't tape if you can't breathe through your nose, if you've been drinking, if you have untreated sleep apnea, or if you're under 13. The contraindications list on this page is short for a reason — read it.
How is Z-Tape different from Hostage Tape, MyoTape, or ZzzTape?
Z-Tape was designed by a dentist who actually teaches sleep medicine — Dr. Deal sees the airway from the inside every day. The cut shape, adhesive, and use guidance are all built around what he sees clinically. Other brands are products with marketing. This one is the product his patients were asking him for.
Will it hurt to remove?
No, if you peel it from the corner instead of pulling straight off. The adhesive is medical-grade and stays gentle. Beard? Fine. Sensitive skin? A warm cloth before removal makes it effortless. If anything's irritating, stop — and email us; we'll figure out what's going on.
What if I can't breathe through my nose at night?
Then don't tape. Decongest first — saline, a humidifier, or a proper ENT visit if it's chronic. Forcing a tape on while your nose is blocked is the wrong move. We'd rather you wait a week than have a bad first night.
Does this treat snoring or sleep apnea?
No. Tape can reduce mild snoring for some people, but it is not a treatment for obstructive sleep apnea. If you snore loudly, gasp during sleep, or wake up tired no matter how long you slept, screen for apnea (idealsleepnow.com) and see a clinician.
Can I use this if I have a CPAP?
Only with your sleep clinician's blessing. If you're on a full-face CPAP mask the tape is redundant. If you're on a nasal pillows mask and your mouth falls open at night, tape can help the mask do its job — but your clinician should be the one to say so.
How does subscribe-and-save work?
Pick a pack and check out — Subscribe & save is selected by default, so every shipment runs 15% below the one-time price and arrives on the cadence your pack lasts. Pause or cancel any time, no friction. Prefer a one-off? Switch to one-time on the buy page.
What's your return policy?
Try a full box. If your sleep doesn't change — or if for any honest reason this isn't right for you — email within 30 days and we'll refund the first order. Keep the box. We'd rather refund you than have you suffer through it.
